From the Heart of Pastor Ken Straight…

I’m glad that you took the time to visit our web pages!  Mackinac Island is a unique place to visit and so is Mackinac Island Bible Church!  We hope that you’ll come by and see us when you visit the island.  I know that you will be touched by God’s Presence and be taught in the Word of God.  We always take the time to personally pray for anyone that asks.  We know God will answer!

In the last few months we’ve seen the seasons come and go here on the island. Each season brings it’s own beauty and splendor along with fond memories too. There are seasons that come and go in our spiritual lives too. But there are things that should never change.  We should always stay true to God and his Word  – it never changes!

Over the last few months we have been challenged to “Come Into Agreement” with the Word of God.  It’s one thing to agree with something or someone.  It is totally another thing to enter into a covenant partnership.  The Word of God says in Amos 3:3, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?”  Jesus said in Matthew 12:30, “He that is not with ME is against me; and he that gathers not with ME scatters abroad.”  These verses prove that we must come into full agreement with the Word of God so that we can walk with Him.

Have we fully believed the “Report of the Lord?”  Do we doubt the Word of God and its promises?  The Bible declares “without faith it is impossible to please Him” (Hebrews 11:6).  God has spoken to us by His Word and we haven’t come into a living trust with it!  When we have come into agreement with God’s Word, we will say what it says, do what it says and reap the eternal reward!

If you have never accepted Jesus as your substitute on the cross and have never asked God to forgive you of your sins, you can do that right now.  You can come into agreement with God and His Word today.  The Bible declares, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).  It also says, “For the wages of sin is death, BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD!” That basically says that our sin (ungodliness) requires us to pay a price.  But, Jesus paid that price in full when He died on the cross and was resurrected.  If you will receive His gift, you will begin your eternal life with and through Him.  And, your name will be written in Heaven! Will you come into a covenant agreement with God today?  Pray and ask the Lord to forgive you of your sins and receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior. You can live the life that God intended for you if you will pray and ask.  God will deliver on His promises.  Write, call or email us today and let us know if you did.

If you are already a born again Christian, it is very easy to mentally assent to the fact that you “agree” with the Word of God.  But, when circumstances, storms, situations, grief, anxiety, problems and turmoil arise, do you bail out of God’s ark of provision or do you stand in agreement with God and His Word?  Are you with Jesus and His promises or against Him?  If you are with Him, you are in a covenant partnership with Him and His Word will NOT return void!

We have been trained in our churches, schools and seminaries that God is a sovereign God.  Most emphatically He is!  But, He has asked us to choose life.  We have been trained to accept whatever comes our way as God’s will for us.  But I see from the Word of God that we have to “fight the good fight of faith” [Look at I Timothy 6:12].  There are times when we take what life brings us lying down.  But, God wants us to come into agreement with His Word and come out on top of the mountain!  We can’t live in the valley too long!

There is no guarantee that temptation and trouble won’t come.  Jesus Himself used the Word of God to resist Satan and his attacks.  Jesus responded to Satan’s temptations with, “It is written…” “It is written…” and “It is written…” Jesus showed us the way - He used the Word as His Sword! The Word of God says in Hebrews 6:12, “That ye be not slothful (lazy), but follow them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” Believe that God and His Word are trustworthy.  Don’t give up.  Stand!

Blessings Be Yours,

Pastor Ken
